After an accident, our expert technicians perform an ADAS calibration check to confirm your vehicle’s safety sensors are calibrated before you get back on the road. If your vehicle’s safety sensors require calibration, we use Protech, one of the leaders in the calibration industry. It’s imperative that the advanced driver-safety systems, like blind spot monitoring and collision avoidance, work exactly as designed to keep you and other drivers safe. We stand by our work, and our limited lifetime warranty. Backing the calibration services we perform gives give you peace of mind when you get behind the wheel of your vehicle.

What is ADAS?

Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, or ADAS, enable a vehicle to react to its surroundings and warn the driver of potential hazards. For the last 20 years, vehicles have become enhanced with ADAS technology and important safety equipment such as sensors and/or cameras to aid drivers in reducing accidents like rear/front camera systems, lane-assist or blind spot monitoring. When our Caliber Collision experts repair your vehicle, the components need to be calibrated to the original manufacturer specifications to ensure they are operating properly. To calibrate ADAS to OE specifications, certain years, makes, and models need proper weight distribution, including having a full tank of fuel. If your vehicle and repair requires additional fuel to be added, you will be responsible for the added cost.

We’re committed to Restoring the Rhythm of Your Life® through providing trusted ADAS calibration services. Following these manufacturer guidelines allows our partners at Protech Automotive Solutions to complete diagnostic scanning and calibration of your vehicle’s safety systems back to the original manufacturer specifications.

Please note that not all ADAS safety systems can be calibrated, such as when vehicles have the following modifications: non-factory lift kits, lowering kits, modified tire size and wheels.

How long does ADAS calibration take?

Generally, a standard ADAS calibration job may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, but this timeframe can adjust based on a variety of factors, such as the complexity of your vehicle's systems, the type of calibration required, and the specific sensors that need service:

  • Type of Calibration: There are two main types of calibration our technicians at Caliber perform: static and dynamic. Static calibration is performed in a highly controlled environment that typically utilizes specialized equipment and setups. On the other hand, dynamic calibration requires a vehicle to be driven at certain speeds on a designated route, which may lengthen the time needed to service your vehicle, depending on road conditions.
  • Extent of Damage: If your car or truck has undergone significant repairs after a recent collision, the calibration process will involve more comprehensive testing and diagnostics to confirm that all ADAS components are aligned correctly.
  • Vehicle Make and Model: Some car manufacturers require more complex ADAS calibration procedures than others. To achieve precise calibration for all your vehicle's safety features, such as emergency braking, front and rear radar sensors, blind spot detection and other automated systems, we will follow all the necessary steps as outlined by the manufacturer, which may add additional time to the job.

Importance of Regular ADAS Calibration

Even if you have not been in a collision, regular ADAS calibration service is crucial to ensure that your car's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are operating as intended. As modern vehicles incorporate more of these technological advancements to make driving safer, protecting the accuracy of systems like forward collision warnings, heads up displays and lane departure warnings becomes even more essential.

Even minor changes to your vehicle, including windshield replacements, fluctuations in tire size, and small collisions such as fender benders can damage your car's sensors without your knowledge. That's why our technicians at Caliber recommend regular ADAS calibration services so your vehicle continues to provide the safety features designed to protect you and other drivers on the road.

Why is Windshield Calibration Needed after Windshield Replacement?

Calibrating your windshield properly after a replacement has a huge impact on the safety of your vehicle if you have ADAS features.

What is an ADAS Calibration?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The word calibration is frequently used in the collision repair industry today, but what does it really mean to calibrate something? To calibrate something means to teach it.

What Does it Mean to Calibrate a Windshield?

Calibrating a windshield has little to do with the glass itself. Your windshield may look like any other piece of glass, but it is anything but normal. Many people are surprised by the technology installed on many modern windshields.
